Senior AI Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide senior thought leadership on national AI strategies, regulatory frameworks, and governance models.
• Advise governments on safe and ethical AI adoption, including privacy, cybersecurity, and algorithmic fairness.
• Lead AI readiness diagnostics, maturity assessments, and sector-specific feasibility studies for developing countries.
• Identify high-value AI use cases in public service delivery, health, climate adaptation, and education.
• Map the Korean AI ecosystem to broker partnerships between Korean institutions and client countries.
• Design and oversee proofs of concept and pilot deployments of AI tools.
• Provide technical leadership on AI-related components of World Bank lending and advisory programs.
• Represent the WBG at high-level Korean AI forums, conferences, and government consultations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML model development, AI policy, or AI systems integration.
• Deep understanding of AI architectures including ML, NLP, CV, and LLMs, as well as MLOps and ethical AI.
• Strong understanding of the Korean AI ecosystem and ability to interface with senior Korean institutions.
• Fluency in both Korean and English.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical AI concepts into policy-relevant insights.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with public sector AI transformation programs.
• Understanding of data governance, privacy regulation, cybersecurity, and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
• Experience in international development or working within multilateral institutions.
• Experience with AI procurement, risk management frameworks, or national regulatory approaches.
