Senior AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build a unified retrieval layer across enterprise systems like Google Drive, SharePoint, and Salesforce
• Design hybrid retrieval pipelines combining lexical, dense vector, and structured retrieval
• Engineer ingestion and freshness pipelines for millions of documents with low latency
• Own permission-aware retrieval to ensure ACL preservation across all sources
• Build query understanding for agents including intent parsing and entity linking
• Design chunking and embedding strategies tailored to various content types
• Build evaluation and experimentation harnesses using metrics like NDCG and MRR
• Ship production-grade, observable systems with strong SLOs
• Mentor teammates on retrieval architecture and engineering craft

Requirements

• 3-5 years building production search, retrieval, or recommendation systems
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java
• Experience with search engines like OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or Vespa
• Solid grounding in IR fundamentals such as BM25 and learning-to-rank
• Working experience with vector search and embeddings (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.)
• Experience designing RAG pipelines and semantic search systems in production
• Familiarity with NLP/LLM tooling like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack
• Experience building integrations against SaaS APIs (REST/GraphQL)
• Understanding of ACL/permission models in enterprise systems
• Strong SQL skills and experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with knowledge graphs and entity resolution
• Experience fine-tuning embedding models
• Exposure to agentic AI patterns like tool use and function calling
• Experience with streaming ingestion using Kafka, Flink, or Spark
• Background in enterprise search, e-discovery, or DLP
