Senior AI Engineer

About the Company

Citizen Health is building an agentic AI caregiver advocate that acts on behalf of rare disease patients and their families. By combining data, AI, and community, Citizen generates personalized insights for clinical decisions and day-to-day challenges, helping families navigate complex healthcare systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement multi-agent architectures for reasoning, planning, and executing complex tasks
• Build RAG pipelines over patient medical records and condition-specific knowledge bases
• Develop tool-use frameworks for browser automation, phone calls, and API integrations
• Design conversation intelligence systems including long-term memory and state management
• Build evaluation frameworks for hallucination detection and medical accuracy validation
• Optimize prompt architectures for capability, cost, and latency

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• 2+ years building LLM-powered applications in production
• Proficiency in Python
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen)
• Experience designing and implementing RAG systems
• Track record of building AI systems that perform real-world tool-use and function calling
• Experience with LLM evaluation and testing for non-deterministic outputs
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated domains (HIPAA)
• Familiarity with multi-agent architectures and specialized agent collaboration
• Experience with WhatsApp Business API or conversational AI at scale
• Background in inference cost optimization
• Familiarity with medical data formats like FHIR, HL7, or CDA
• Experience with voice AI, telephony APIs, or browser automation (Playwright, Puppeteer)
