About the Company

Humanoid is on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Their HMND-01 Alpha platform is already running in real industrial pilots.

Responsibilities

  • Size and design torque dense actuators for humanoid robots, including motors, bearings, encoders, and drives
  • Develop innovative strain wave and planetary gearbox designs
  • Create 3D CAD models and production drawings using SolidWorks or NX with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Select materials and manufacturing methods for performance, weight, and scalability
  • Lead rapid prototyping using 3D printing and CNC machining
  • Design components for high volume production including casting and injection moulding
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, and software teams to integrate actuators into robotic platforms
  • Conduct mechanical testing and validation to ensure reliability
  • Own mechanical subsystems from concept through deployment

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional mechanical design experience in robotics or electromechanical systems
  • 3+ years of experience designing planetary, cycloidal, or strain wave actuators
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, NX, or similar CAD tools
  • Expertise in applying GD&T based on ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and injection molding
  • Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical prototypes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using KISSsoft or RoMax for gearbox development
  • Experience designing ball screw, lead screw, or roller screw actuators
  • Experience with humanoid, legged, or mobile robots
  • Experience performing FEA or structural simulations
  • Experience in thermal modelling of electric motors or gearboxes
