Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
• Perform General Ledger account reconciliations and maintain the chart of accounts
• Process journal entries for bank fees, gifts, grants, and other allocations
• Manage capital asset transactions and reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger
• Audit parking garage revenue and reconcile bank statements
• Assist with grant accounting, including budget monitoring and invoicing
• Prepare financial statements and footnotes in accordance with GAAP and GASB
• Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing schedules and transaction documents
• Coordinate the annual production of the College Foundation’s 990 tax return
• Perform data analysis on large datasets using Excel

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation
• CPA license required
• Experience using a computerized financial system
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and look-up functions
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience accounting for fixed assets and depreciation
• Experience with variance analysis
• Ability to translate financial performance for faculty and leadership
