Senior Accountant, Project & Cost Accounting

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end financial management for government and commercial contracts, including project setup in NetSuite with budgets, funding ceilings, and WBS.
• Track and reconcile project-level costs and prepare monthly variance analyses against approved budgets.
• Allocate direct and indirect costs to contracts in compliance with FAR Part 31 and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
• Maintain indirect rate structures including fringe, overhead, G&A, and fee pools.
• Validate labor distributions against timesheets and payroll to ensure accurate cost capture.
• Support government contract compliance and audits, including incurred cost submissions and DCAA audit activities.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports for program managers and finance leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience with T&M contract billing, cost-reimbursable contracts, and incurred cost submissions.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of specific experience in government contract accounting (FAR/CAS/DCAA compliance).
• Active CPA license or CPA eligibility.
