Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and cash management
• Maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes in compliance with GAAP and FASB ASC 958
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and dashboards for the President and Board
• Lead the annual external audit process and serve as the primary liaison to auditors
• Manage Form 990, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and grant compliance
• Oversee cash flow, banking relationships, and endowment accounting
• Supervise and develop a small business office team
• Partner with Advancement on gift acknowledgment and restricted fund tracking

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field
• 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience
• Strong technical accounting skills and proficiency with GAAP
• Demonstrated proficiency with general ledger systems and modern accounting software
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data for non-financial audiences
• Genuine alignment with the College’s Christian faith, mission, and values

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA certification
• Prior experience in not-for-profit, higher education, or ministry accounting
• Experience with fund accounting and restricted gift accounting
• Familiarity with Title IV financial aid accounting and Form 990 preparation
• Experience with Sage Accounting, Populi LMS, or Ramp ERP
