Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Own and execute month-end and year-end close cycles, including journal entries, accruals, and prepaids
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances against budgets and prior periods
• Manage intercompany transactions and support consolidation across U.S. and international subsidiaries
• Handle high-volume carrier settlements, freight revenue/cost recognition, and load-level margin analysis
• Reconcile operational data from TMS into the accounting system
• Prepare comprehensive financial statements and audit-ready workpapers
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience with month-end and year-end close responsibilities
• Expertise in U.S. GAAP
• Proficiency in journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX, large-dataset manipulation)
• Hands-on experience with ERP and general ledger systems
• Strong attention to detail and deadline management

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification or active candidacy
• Experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, or transportation industries
• Expertise in multi-entity consolidation and intercompany elimination
• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TransportPro, Cargotel, or Tai)
• Proficiency in SQL, Power Query, or business intelligence platforms
• Supervisory or mentoring experience
