Seed Production Technician

Responsibilities

• Manage the multiplication and stability program of parental maize lines from sowing to harvest
• Oversee nursery management, including soil preparation, treatments, irrigation, and sowing
• Coordinate with farmers regarding contracts, monitoring, communication, and payments
• Supervise manual pollination activities and nursery line observations
• Manage field harvests and organize sampling for quality analysis
• Coordinate seed preparation, sorting, and processing activities
• Maintain seed stock inventory and ensure traceability throughout the process
• Supervise temporary staff during peak seasons, including training and coordination
• Ensure compliance with HSESQ procedures and contribute to continuous process improvement

Requirements

• Minimum Bac+2 degree in agriculture or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in operating agricultural machinery and crop management
• Strong agronomic knowledge
• Proficiency with standard office software
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments
• Flexibility to work with changing deadlines and a result-oriented mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of plant breeding
• Proficiency in English
