About the role
Responsibilities
- Utilize a patrol dog to provide high-level protection and act as a pre-warning to potential criminals
- Track and assist in the arresting of suspects using the patrol dog
- Act responsibly when using a dog to apprehend suspects, ensuring no excessive force is used
- Inform the National Control Room, TSU management, and SAPS immediately following a dog-assisted arrest
- Apply first aid and contact emergency services if a suspect sustains serious injuries
- Maintain detailed OB entries for all incidents
Requirements
- PSIRA Grade C certificate (registered and up to date)
- Grade 10 education or higher
- DH1 and DH2 Qualifications
- Passion for working with dogs
- Proficiency in written and verbal English
- Clear criminal record
- Residency in or around the Johannesburg area
