Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular security rounds of all university property to ensure a secure campus environment
• Research, report, and document crimes and incidents through daily activity and incident reports
• Maintain security of all keys and key access points
• Respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations, determining the proper course of action
• Defend self and others with and without the use of deadly force
• Conduct traffic safety duties, including issuing traffic and parking citations
• Address and report policy violations when observed
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to the officer code of conduct and university policies
• Maintain Emergency Response certification and yearly state security recertification

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check
• Ability to fire a weapon accurately
• Physical ability to run, lift, and exert oneself physically for short periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in law enforcement
• Professional security training
