Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus property and surrounding areas to deter criminal activity and maintain visibility
• Monitor campus conditions and verify the security of campus facilities through regular walk-throughs
• Provide essential services including escorts, vehicle jump starts, and assistance to students, staff, and faculty
• Enforce parking rules, regulations, and University policies
• Investigate and document violations of Student Conduct Codes or abnormal activities
• Maintain and monitor campus safety equipment such as AEDs and blue light phones

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent professional experience)
• At least 1 year of related experience
• Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record
• Ability to obtain or possess basic first-aid and CPR certification
• Ability to pass a background check consistent with university policy
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework in a related field or two years of experience in law enforcement, security, or public safety
• Experience working in a higher education environment
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
• Proficiency in de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed response practices
• Experience conducting investigations and preparing detailed incident reports
