Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patrols and walkthroughs of campus buildings and grounds on foot, bicycle, or in a security vehicle
• Monitor campus buildings to prevent damage or theft and identify hazards such as broken lights or unsafe conditions
• Operate the Campus Security Communications Center by monitoring alarms and responding to requests
• Coordinate response efforts by communicating with patrol officers via radio
• Investigate incidents, crimes, and complaints involving the College community
• Maintain detailed and accurate records regarding incidents, activities, and communications
• Ensure compliance with established regulations and policies

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet the College’s Motor Vehicle Use Policy
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon employment)
• Ability to attend the Security Officer Academy
• Ability to work the 3rd shift schedule (typically 11pm–7am)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice or a related field
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in the safety and security field
• Working knowledge of electronic or manual recording and information systems
