Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patrols and walkthroughs of campus buildings and grounds on foot, bicycle, or in a security vehicle
• Monitor campus buildings to prevent damage or theft and identify hazards such as broken lights or unsafe conditions
• Investigate incidents, crimes, and complaints involving the College community and ensure compliance with regulations
• Operate the Campus Security Communications Center by monitoring alarms and coordinating response efforts via radio
• Maintain detailed and accurate records regarding incidents, activities, and communications
• Perform building security tasks including locking/unlocking facilities and inspecting fire and access control systems

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon employment)
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet the College’s Motor Vehicle Use Policy
• Ability to attend the Security Officer Academy
• Ability to work the 3rd shift schedule (typically 11pm–7am)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice or a related field
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in the safety and security field
