Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Proactively patrol University campuses to maintain a visible and reassuring safety presence
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and motor vehicle accidents
• Conduct security interviews and handle unattended items or suspicious behavior
• Maintain clear radio traffic and write detailed, accurate electronic incident reports
• Request assistance from external emergency services such as law enforcement, fire, or EMS when necessary
• Perform periodic safety and fire inspections and manage campus traffic or parking violations
• Provide friendly, high-quality service and assistance to students, faculty, and guests

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire)
• Baton, Repuls, and Handcuff certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire)
• Physical fitness to perform active physical responses to emergency situations
• Ability to work the 3rd shift (12am-8am) and maintain flexibility for weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree
• 2+ years of experience in public safety, security, or law enforcement
• Previous experience working within a higher education environment
