Security Officer and Dispatcher

Responsibilities

• Serve in a dual role as a Public Safety security officer and dispatcher to ensure campus safety
• Conduct daily patrols, life safety checks, and secure/un-secure campus buildings and classrooms
• Act as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls
• Manage a multi-line control system and utilize various communication tools including phones, computers, and radios
• Monitor campus alarm systems (fire, burglar, panic), access control, and weather alert radios
• Provide safety escorts to community members and security staffing for special events
• Perform general investigations, report incidents, and enforce University rules and regulations
• Maintain secure control of lost and found or evidentiary items
• Serve as a first responder in crisis situations, including medical emergencies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Current First aid/CPR/AED certification
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to maintain mental toughness during crisis situations
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in Military, Corrections, Law Enforcement, Dispatch, or Security
• Associate degree or higher
