About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor access control, video management, and visitor management systems at the headquarters building
- Patrol premises on prescribed routes to secure the building and personnel
- Respond to emergency dispatches, incidents, and access control needs in coordination with security partners
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and denying unauthorized access
- Investigate and report fires or unusual occurrences, taking initial remedial steps
- Write and update detailed incident reports via Slack, email, or phone
- Perform Security Concierge duties, including visitor badge printing and directing guests
- Support the mission of journalistic independence and the company's core values
Requirements
- New York State Security Guard License
- At least one year of security experience at a comparable office site
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong technical, written, and observational skills
- Ability to pass an extensive background screening process
