Security Engineer

About the Company

Chai is a research lab working on generative models for molecular design. We are building AI infrastructure to engineer new medicines with speed and precision. Our mission is to unlock progress towards better cures and better science.

Responsibilities

• Own and build the security function end to end
• Represent Chai's security posture to partners, including CISOs and cloud security architects
• Review compute architecture, tenant isolation, egress controls, encryption, and key management
• Partner with product and platform engineers to review systems like shared inference fleets and per-partner data isolation
• Ship security controls and automate compliance, onboarding, and vendor work
• Own detection, response, and incident management end to end

Requirements

• 5+ years in security engineering
• Experience building or improving security programs at high-growth companies
• Ability to write production code in Python and TypeScript
• Experience working closely with engineering teams in a startup environment
• Credibility to represent the company in technical discussions with enterprise partners
• Familiarity with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in life sciences or other highly regulated industries
