Security Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support the Division Security Representative at the Naval Research Laboratory by managing physical security tasks and access control
• Monitor and report security threats, violations, or infractions, and assist in investigations
• Ensure the proper operation of access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV/video surveillance systems
• Assist with the implementation of Information Security (INFOSEC) policies and procedures
• Coordinate with contractor Facility Security Officers (FSO) and Information System Security Managers (ISSM)
• Perform duties as a Classified Material Courier when authorized
• Support the accreditation, management, and maintenance of Secure Terminal Rooms
• Ensure IT systems are properly labeled and follow Navy and DoD classification marking procedures

Requirements

• High School diploma
• 7-10 years of experience in physical security systems and procedures
• Technical electronics background with experience in access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance equipment
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal security-related training (e.g., Physical Security for Classified Programs, COMSEC Custodian, or Facility Security Officer)
• Background in Cybersecurity or other relevant security fields
