Security and Building Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform locksmith duties including installation, maintenance, repair, and rekeying of mechanical and electronic locks and door hardware
• Maintain the campus access control system by programming access levels, schedules, credentials, and security permissions
• Install, repair, and troubleshoot access control components such as card readers, electronic locks, and motion detectors
• Maintain key control records, access control databases, and system documentation
• Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections of locks, alarms, and related security equipment
• Respond to service requests and security-related incidents involving locks and access control systems
• Collaborate with Public Safety, Facilities Management, and Information Services to ensure system integrity

Requirements

• 2 to 3 years of experience in locksmithing, electronic security systems, or a related field
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electronic access control systems
• Working knowledge of mechanical and electronic locks, key systems, and door hardware
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Proficiency with computer-based access control and security management software
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a locksmith apprenticeship or certification program
• Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Security Systems Technology
• Certified Locksmith designation through a recognized professional organization
• Experience with enterprise access control, CCTV/video management, or intrusion detection systems
• Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and network-connected security devices
