Section Operator

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the operation of section facilities affecting electric and gas transmission and distribution systems.
• Manage outages of lines and equipment for testing, maintenance, and repairs to ensure service continuity.
• Issue switching orders for de-energizing, grounding, tagging, and re-energizing various facilities.
• Ensure strict adherence to operating instructions for switching, tagging, and gas operations.
• Monitor and operate supervisory controlled electric substations and maintain gas pressures within predetermined limits.
• Perform initial analysis of section troubles and initiate actions to minimize service interruptions.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and update system diagram boards to reflect current field conditions.
• Receive trouble calls and dispatch crews for minor issues during off-duty hours for customer service personnel.

Requirements

• A.A.S. degree in Electrical Technology.
• 3 years of experience in electric operating or related functions.
• Ability to pass a physical examination, including color perception.
• Ability to qualify for an Automobile Operator's License.
• Willingness to work extra, irregular hours, or shift schedules.
• Strong analytical ability and emotional stability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with supervisory control equipment for electric substations and gas distribution systems.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate orders and instructions clearly and professionally.
