About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead a diverse team of approximately 22 engineers specializing in chemical engineering, fluid systems, and space environmental analysis.
- Manage resources, schedules, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects in support of NASA Johnson Space Center divisions.
- Perform technical reviews of final product documents, including Life Support Test reports and Fluid System Analysis.
- Guide the development and validation of chemical and fluid models for space exploration applications.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster technical growth while ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Task Order Managers to provide adequate technical support and personnel.
- Maintain risk management protocols regarding technical, cost, and schedule factors for all associated analysis tasks.
- Oversee personnel administrative tasks including performance evaluations, training plans, and resource requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Nuclear), Physics, or Chemistry.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical processes, fluid systems, or space environments analysis.
- Minimum of 2 years of familiarity or exposure to NASA/JSC Chemical, Fluid System, or Space Environments System Analysis.
- Proven experience in technical personnel management.
- Proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or natural/induced space environment modeling.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as ASPEN, COMSOL, SINDA FLUINT, Star CCM+, or Flowcad.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact with senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering.
- Prior experience as a working manager balancing technical execution and team leadership.
- Familiarity with Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) and NASA exploration roadmaps (ISS, Gateway, Lunar, Mars).
- Experience with Thermal Desktop, MATLAB, C++, or solid modeling CAD software (PTC CREO/Pro Engineering).
- Knowledge of water reclamation, CO2 sequestration, or air revitalization methods.
