About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate site activities to ensure setting-out and quality control procedures are performed efficiently.
- Produce and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure quality controls align with specification requirements.
- Complete and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for the control of works.
- Communicate effectively with superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure clear understanding of project information.
- Maintain accurate daily site diaries, including variations, subcontractor attendance, and work-related discussions.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of the 4-weekly construction programme.
- Coordinate surveying requirements, including control establishment, setting out, and volumetric checks.
- Undertake planned and ad-hoc Health & Safety inspections and ensure environmental controls are implemented.
- Provide direction and support to Site Engineers.
Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- SSSTS or SMST certification.
- Proven experience as a Section Engineer or a strong Site Engineer ready to step up, specifically on large-scale civils infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and construction documents.
- Strong IT literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of safety procedures and hazard recognition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with earthworks is desirable but not essential.
