Secondary Engineer – HV Substations

Responsibilities

• Develop protection philosophies, coordination concepts, and relay settings calculations
• Prepare and review substation control philosophies, bay control architecture, and functional design specifications
• Design and review SCADA and Substation Automation Systems (SAS) including IEC 61850 implementation
• Prepare secondary engineering documentation such as single-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Design AC and DC auxiliary systems including battery chargers, UPS, and distribution boards
• Perform telecommunication engineering for optical fibre, teleprotection, and network switches
• Prepare technical specifications and Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
• Support construction, testing, and commissioning activities including FAT and SAT
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Registered Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
• 5–10 years of experience in secondary engineering for high-voltage substations
• Experience with 132 kV to 500 kV AIS and GIS substation projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of IEC 61850, IEC 60255, and Malaysian Grid Code
• Willingness to travel to project sites in Malaysia and Southeast Asia

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration
• Experience with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) projects
• Experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• Experience in renewable energy grid connections or BESS projects
