Secondary Design Interface Engineer 1

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secondary systems within HV electrical substations (132kV, 275kV, and 400kV)
• Collaborate with primary design engineers and project managers to develop comprehensive system designs
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation including interface circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
• Perform technical calculations for battery sizes, voltage drop, and cable sizing
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, NGTS) and client regulations
• Manage secondary design scope to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for design and implementation challenges
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and contractors
• Perform site visits and surveys as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience in secondary system design within the HV power industry
• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems
• Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC and IEEE
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status
• Knowledge of NGTS standards
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and I/O interfaces
