About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform preparation, cooking, and serving duties for meals, daily specials, and catered events
- Utilize various preparation methods including roasting, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, and baking
- Adhere to all safety regulations, FoodSafe, and ServeSafe standards
- Assist in menu planning and costing suggestions to the Chef Manager
- Lead and coach team members by delegating tasks and ensuring best practices
- Control costs through inventory maintenance, food rotation (FIFO), and portion control
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen and storage areas
- Ensure speed of service and professional customer interaction
Requirements
- Completion of post-secondary culinary training
- 2 years of experience in a high-volume restaurant, cafeteria, or café setting
- ServeSafe and/or FoodSafe certification
- Ability to work in a team-based environment with high levels of cooperation
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift between 0-10 pounds
- Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading high-performance teams
- Artistic flair for food presentation
