About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in overall kitchen operations and maintenance
- Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, tools, equipment, pots, and dishes
- Ensure consistent food quality and safety standards per Food Safe protocol
- Prepare food items for sandwich making, including slicing meats and cheeses
- Inspect appearance and presentation of cold food
- Control proper storage of food items in refrigerators and freezers
- Prepare and set up full salad bars for lunch and supper
- Ensure effective utilization of food stocks
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of cooking experience in a similar, hotel, or institutional environment preferred
- FoodSafe Level I certification
- Ability to obtain 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test
Preferred Qualifications
- SafeCheck advanced food safety certification
- HACCP certification
