Second Class Engineer A/C and Boilers

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines and mechanical equipment including air compressors, generators, motors, turbines, and vacuum pumps
• Manage and maintain steam boilers, hot water pumps, and chill water pumps
• Monitor equipment performance and detect malfunctions through signal lights and warning signals
• Respond to emergency situations and work flexible hours as required to ensure plant stability
• Use hand tools and manual dexterity to adjust valves and perform necessary equipment maintenance

Requirements

• Current 2nd Class City of New Orleans Operating Engineers License for steam boilers and air conditioning
• At least 5 years of experience in the engineering field
• Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb, stoop, and perform physical tasks in a central plant environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of Central Plant processes and equipment maintenance
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals
• Strong reasoning ability and good judgment for making on-the-job decisions
• Ability to work tactfully and diplomatically with others
• Experience handling high-stress emergency situations
