Responsibilities
- Own the technology scouting function for Process Development by identifying and evaluating emerging technologies for mRNA and LNP manufacturing.
- Design and execute experimental studies to challenge existing process paradigms in mRNA synthesis, purification, and LNP formulation.
- Partner with Analytical Development to implement advanced characterization methods, process analytical technologies (PAT), and in-line monitoring.
- Evaluate emerging instrumentation, automation platforms, and data science approaches to accelerate development.
- Develop innovative strategies to improve process performance, scalability, and product quality.
- Lead scientific investigations into complex process challenges and provide technical leadership.
- Build and manage relationships with technology vendors, CROs, and academic collaborators.
- Mentor junior scientists and maintain technical documentation including electronic lab notebooks and reports.
Requirements
- B.S. or Advanced Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology.
- Significant industry experience developing mRNA, lipid nanoparticle (LNP), or related nucleic acid therapeutic products.
- Deep understanding of DNA/mRNA synthesis, purification, and characterization.
- Proven track record of implementing new technologies or workflows to improve process efficiency or quality.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and data-driven process optimization.
- Strong ability to collaborate across scientific disciplines and communicate complex technical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LNP development.
- Familiarity with automation, digital process development, and advanced data analysis techniques.
- Experience with multivariate analysis and mechanistic process understanding.
