About the role
Responsibilities
- Initiate tribological model development to support SKF’s Technology Strategy
- Develop and validate tribological models describing surface failure modes, considering contact conditions, materials, topography, and lubrication
- Create tribology models for predictive and prognostic tools
- Contribute to the development of next-generation bearing life models
- Act as a technical bridge between Tribology and other competence areas such as steels, coatings, and lubrication
- Coordinate Research and Technology Development Projects
- Transfer knowledge to less senior colleagues and publish scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals
Requirements
- PhD in computational tribology or a related field with significant modeling experience
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience post-PhD
- Expertise in Elasto-hydrodynamic (EHL) modeling
- Broad knowledge of theoretical solid and fluid mechanics
- Proficiency in advanced numerical methods (e.g., FFT, Boundary Integral Method, or Finite Element Method)
- Practical experience in in-house code development using modern programming languages
- Demonstrated experience in modeling elastic-plastic contact between rough surfaces under mixed lubrication
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills
- Fluency in English with excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of multiscale physics of contact problems
- Experience developing physics-informed neural network-based methods for solving partial differential equations
- Outstanding scientific publication record in top peer-reviewed journals
