About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and apply analytical and numerical models to solve dynamic impact, nonlinear FEA, and fracture mechanics problems.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to deliver practical R&D solutions for high-value business programs.
  • Use appropriate modeling methods and software to expand technical capabilities and generate new product concepts.
  • Communicate project updates and findings to global stakeholders, including researchers, engineers, and customers.
  • Document research findings through internal reports and external scientific publications.

Requirements

  • PhD, Masters, or Dual Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Engineering, or Materials Science.
  • Strong background in solid mechanics theory and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Proficiency with commercial FEA software such as ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, ANSYS Mechanical, MATLAB, or Tecplot.
  • Experience modeling dynamic impact problems and material non-linearities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage work effectively in a global, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with experimental work, either directly or through close collaboration.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Unix, or Shell.
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment across multiple technology areas.
