About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, evolve, and implement state-of-the-art algorithms for genetic relationship and ancestry inference.
  • Scale pedigree inference across millions of individuals by leveraging massive phased identity-by-descent data.
  • Combine array-based genotyping and sequencing data to develop methods for tracing trait inheritance.
  • Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to deploy customer-facing features.
  • Communicate research findings regularly to both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Population Genetics, Human Genetics, Statistical Genetics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong expertise in population genetics demonstrated through prior work or publications.
  • Research experience using machine learning and statistical modeling to analyze large-scale genomics datasets.
  • Proficiency in the Python scientific ecosystem for data analysis, machine learning, and prototyping.
  • Experience with collaborative version control and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing family pedigrees using genetic data from relatives.
  • Experience working with sequencing data, such as whole-genome or exome data.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, including automated testing, containerization, cloud computing, and CI/CD.
  • Postdoctoral or industry research experience.
