Scientist II - Manager, PD Upstream

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior-level technical contributor and subject matter expert for upstream systems and process strategy
• Independently manage multiple projects or client programs with high scientific rigor and compliance
• Lead process development activities including scale-up, technology transfer, and validation support
• Design and execute complex DoE studies and author technical reports
• Anticipate and proactively solve challenges in upstream scale-up
• Act as a liaison between Process Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
• Mentor junior scientists and associates in experimental design and scientific reasoning

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, or related discipline
• Working knowledge of mammalian cell culture techniques
• Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot bioreactors
• Experience planning, conducting, and reviewing experimental data
• Experience training and developing team members
• Experience analyzing data sets to influence decision making
• Experience working with external collaborators
• Project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, or related discipline
• Experience working with viral vectors such as AAV or Lentivirus
