About the role

Responsibilities

  • Execute flask and stirred tank fermentation experiments from 0.1L to 1.3L scale, including media preparation, vessel setup, inoculation, sampling, and cleanup
  • Prepare working vial lots of novel production strains
  • Maintain thorough documentation using an electronic lab notebook
  • Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace
  • Perform basic maintenance on fermentation and analytical equipment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts regarding fermentation execution and operational safety

Requirements

  • MSc or BSc in microbiology, fermentation science, or a related field
  • 1-4 years of relevant experience in industrial microbiology research
  • Experience with aerobic or anaerobic fermentation of bacteria, yeast, or filamentous fungi
  • Strong safety mindset with experience in biological and chemical laboratory safety protocols
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to safely lift 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with benchtop fermentation equipment such as Eppendorf Dasgip or Sartorius Ambr250
  • Experience with microbiology sample analysis (e.g., OD, CEDEX, pH, density, dry cell weight)
