Scientist I, Screening Tech Development

Responsibilities

• Build and disseminate scalable pooled mammalian screening and DNA preparation workflows
• Design, execute, and optimize high-throughput mammalian transfection workflows and cell-based assays
• Quantify genome editing via Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
• Generate poly- and monoclonal cell lines using Homology-Directed Repair (HDR) and lentiviral transduction
• Partner with Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Automation, and Biology teams to support novel screening technologies
• Maintain electronic lab notebooks, SOPs, and analytical summaries
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to scientific company culture

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field with 0–2 years experience (or MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years)
• Hands-on competence in mammalian cell culture, maintenance, engineering, and characterization
• Direct experience with advanced genome-editing modalities (base editors, prime editors, recombinases, or nucleases)
• Expertise in modern cloning methodologies (Golden Gate, Gibson assembly, pooled library preparation)
• Experience setting up microplate-based or automation-compatible workflows
• Strong technical judgment and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with pooled screening and demultiplexing via NGS
• Experience with flow cytometry of mammalian cells
• Experience handling large datasets using SQL, Python, JMP, or bash
• Experience in Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical analysis
• Familiarity with liquid handling automation (Hamilton, Tecan) and LIMS (Benchling)
