Scientist I, Formulations

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and optimize dried powder formulations using lyophilization and spray drying techniques
• Conduct formulation screening using statistically grounded experimental designs (DoE) to translate results into actionable steps
• Evaluate the impact of excipients, processing conditions, and storage environments on material stability and functionality
• Characterize dried powder products using analytical methods such as particle size, morphology, thermal analysis, and moisture content
• Document critical parameters and generate high-quality datasets to support process development, scale-up, and tech transfer
• Contribute to the establishment of long-term formulation workflows and best practices within a collaborative team

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant research experience, Master’s degree with 8 years of experience, or PhD with 0 years of experience
• Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, materials science, biotechnology, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience with drying-based formulation techniques, specifically lyophilization and/or spray drying
• Strong understanding of physical chemistry or materials science principles (e.g., glass transition, crystallinity, moisture interactions)
• Experience designing and executing statistically informed experiments using DoE
• Familiarity with analytical characterization techniques such as DSC and TGA

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with downstream processing operations, including tangential flow filtration (TFF) and other purification workflows
• Experience working in a dynamic, early-stage research environment
