Scientist, Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Synthesize and purify fluorescent dyes, NHS esters, dye conjugates, and energy transfer dyes
• Synthesize and purify nucleosides, nucleotides, and reversible terminators
• Synthesize and purify water-soluble spacers and cleavable linkers
• Scale up synthesis and purification of small molecules, macromolecules, and complex bio-conjugates
• Develop QC assays
• Research literature to incorporate new information into projects
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support R&D needs

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience with synthesis and HPLC purification (reverse phase and ion exchange)
• Experience characterizing molecules by NMR (1H, 31P, 19F, DEPTQ, HMBC, HSQC), LCMS, and excitation/emission spectra
• Solid understanding of photophysical principles
• Proficiency with SciFinder, ChemDraw, and Mnova
• Ability to handle chemicals and follow safety protocols in a laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing and synthesizing novel dye scaffolds
• Experience in bioconjugation, assay development, photo(redox)chemistry, or system integration
