About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead safety pharmacology lab-based activities and manage the cardiac safety and electrophysiology laboratory staff
- Oversee in vitro and in vivo safety pharmacology studies, including protocol development, data review, and report finalization
- Serve as a Safety Pharmacology Subject Matter Expert (SME) on project teams to support discovery and development programs
- Ensure appropriate evaluation of target- and off-target-based safety risks in accordance with ICH guidelines
- Manage exploratory and GLP-compliant studies, including the oversight of outsourced studies and CRO relationships
- Build and maintain external scientific collaborations with academic and industry partners to advance safety pharmacology best practices
- Contribute to scientific eminence through peer-reviewed publications and presentations
Requirements
- Doctorate with 4 years of relevant scientific experience, OR Master's degree with 7 years of experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience
- Experience in in vitro and/or in vivo safety pharmacology
- Laboratory management and people leadership experience
- Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- Working knowledge of cardiac ion channel assays (e.g., hERG, Nav1.5, Cav1.2) and hiPSC-derived cardiomyocyte assays
- Experience supporting discovery and development project teams as a safety pharmacology SME
- Familiarity with GLP-enabling safety pharmacology packages and integration with toxicology studies
- Track record of scientific publications and participation in external scientific forums
