Science Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist and advise teaching staff on the preparation and layout of classrooms for practical exercises
• Prepare equipment and materials to teacher specifications, including running trials of experiments and demonstrations
• Advise students and staff on the safe and proper use of tools, equipment, and learning activities
• Maintain, repair, and ensure the safety of all science resources and equipment
• Undertake safety checks and risk assessments in compliance with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations
• Manage the safe disposal of used chemicals and hazardous waste
• Assist with stock keeping and ensure all materials are stored securely and in good condition
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including managing spills and breakages

Requirements

• A Level or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, or Biology
• COSHH training
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
• Good understanding of chemical properties
• Experience working as a technician in a school or educational establishment
• Ability to manage and be responsible for your own workload
