Responsibilities
- Oversee chemistry laboratory operations and maintain chemical inventory
- Manage safety compliance and hazardous waste disposal processes
- Serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) to ensure a safe teaching environment
- Support student laboratory needs and assist faculty with departmental operations
- Coordinate with outside vendors and experts for specialized laboratory requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
- Two years of relevant laboratory, safety, or chemical inventory management experience
- Working knowledge of chemical handling and hazardous waste regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education or academic science programs
- Experience supervising student employees or laboratory assistants
- Familiarity with OSHA Laboratory Standards and Chemical Hygiene Plans
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems
