School Nurse

Responsibilities

• Monitor students or staff who are ill
• Supervise prescribed medical treatments and medication administration
• Update medical and vaccination records
• Run a school medical office independently
• Administer first aid as needed
• Participate in emergency services for students and staff
• Provide assessment, planning, intervention, and management for students with acute or chronic health conditions
• Conduct vision and hearing screenings
• Participate in the development of IEPs and 504 plans
• Prepare health reports for the Nurse Leader, Department of Education, and Department of Public Health

Requirements

• Current, valid Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts
• CPR Certification
• Experience working with children and families in a school or community setting preferred
• Strong team orientation

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual candidates (Spanish proficiency is a plus)
