School Health Physician

Responsibilities

• Attend to the health needs and medical issues of students in a designated school community
• Perform mandated physical examinations including New Admission, Sports, and Working Paper physicals
• Utilize the Automated Student Health Record (ASHR) to maintain accurate student health records
• Complete medical accommodation reviews and coordinate services using sound clinical judgment
• Participate in school meetings concerning student medical needs
• Support the development of school educational and prevention programs for student wellness
• Provide clinical assistance during environmental or communicable disease occurrences
• Function as a liaison between students and community health providers
• Support medical initiatives for Asthma, Reproductive Health, Obesity, and Diabetes
• Participate in Office of School Health research activities and mandated DOHMH activities

Requirements

• Valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York
• Valid Board Certification or approved application for board certification in an appropriate specialty
• Strong clinical pediatric experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Public Health or equivalent with graduate credits in epidemiology and biostatistics
• Experience in the practice of epidemiology
• Completion of an approved residency and fellowship program in related specialties such as Infectious Disease or Pulmonary Medicine
