School Based Parent Coordinator/Community Activities Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Work with the school principal and staff to improve communications and public relationships between the school and the community
• Coordinate the school-wide volunteer program
• Assist in scheduling meetings for parents of students participating in programs
• Assist in developing and implementing the school's public relations program
• Collect and log documentation of parent activities, including agendas, sign-in sheets, and parent suggestions
• Assist with training parents to help their children achieve academic success
• Create assessments of parent involvement using attendance records, surveys, and other appropriate data
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Recommendation from the school principal, superintendent of schools, and the Board of Education
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, school personnel, and parents
• Ability to motivate parents and encourage engagement in student learning and achievement
• Proficiency with computer applications, specifically Microsoft Word
• Ability to pass a state criminal background check
