Scheme Manager – Food Certification

Responsibilities

• Manage Food Certification Schemes and a team of auditors in accordance with standard and accreditation requirements
• Provide technical, administrative, and systems support to the Technical Manager and auditors
• Maintain Lead Auditor status for applicable standards
• Manage food scheme requirements including ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and BRCGS
• Oversee auditor training, development, and onboarding
• Conduct technical reviews and certification decisions of audit packs
• Support the maintenance of local accreditation for HACCP (SANS 10330)
• Assist with business development and client follow-up visits
• Ensure performance targets and quality KPIs are maintained

Requirements

• Minimum 3-year tertiary qualification in food science, technology, biological science, or a related degree
• 5–10 years of post-qualification experience in the food industry (quality assurance, product safety, or technical management)
• Extensive knowledge of ISO 17021 and ISO 22003 requirements
• Proficiency in English
• Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
• Experience in project management and operations management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in certification or Business Assurance environments
• Knowledge of managing competency records and databases
• Exposure to accreditation systems such as ISO 17021 or 17065
• Experience with audit systems like CertIQ or DigiApp
• Data analysis skills using Power BI
