About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical reference for one or more customer satellite missions, representing Loft in technical discussions and reviews.
- Act as the internal payload subject-matter expert, interfacing with hardware and software teams to ensure end-to-end integration.
- Work with flight operations to develop mission CONOPS and support the development of Service Level Agreements.
- Assist with program and product management, including customer interfacing regarding programmatic and schedule matters.
- Review test plans and results, and participate in integration, test campaigns, launch, and in-orbit activities.
- Contribute to satellite-level budgets, analyses, V&V planning, and on-orbit operations for rideshare programs.
Requirements
- More than 2 years of demonstrated experience as a spacecraft systems engineer or equivalent experience in at least two subsystems (e.g., ADCS, Mechanical, Thermal, Power, On-Board Electronics & Software).
- Experience in small satellite assembly, integration, and test (AIT) campaigns and/or spacecraft delivery to orbit.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced development environment and handle pressure positively with a hands-on approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python and Jupyter notebooks for analysis and simulation.
- Exposure to various space payload technologies such as RF, optical, radar, or hosted compute.
- Experience with in-orbit operations.
- International experience.
