About the role

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure design for manufacturability for initial design, flight hardware, and tooling
  • Develop innovative manufacturing systems for large spacecraft assemblies, including electromechanical sub-assemblies, harnessing, welded/bolted structures, and mechanisms
  • Create custom tools and processes to support manufacturing technologies including Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software
  • Demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes to improve design manufacturability
  • Develop subassembly build flows and iterate to create efficient production flows for satellites
  • Partner with advanced manufacturing engineers to perform R&D of novel manufacturing technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or relevant engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in high volume, rapid production environments
  • Demonstrated results with product development and process improvements
  • Experience setting up manufacturing/production floors for first article builds
  • Experience designing and implementing technologies for avionics subassembly manufacturing (wire harness, PCBA, mechanical enclosure assembly)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing tooling for mechanical subassemblies and electronics
  • Experience designing hardware for manufacturability
  • Experience developing production processes from the ground up
  • Experience working closely with technicians and build tooling
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards (soldering, torque, welding, quality assurance)
  • Familiarity with CAD software (NX or equivalent) and GD&T
  • Experience working with MES for procedure creation and non-conformance documentation
