Satellite Ground System Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for the GOES-R series constellation and the SOLAR-1 mission.
• Maintain constant communication and data flow between satellite constellations and ground systems.
• Perform mission management functions including orbit analysis, mission planning, and scheduling.
• Monitor the health and performance of mission management assets and satellites.
• Investigate anomalous alarms and perform real-time troubleshooting and analysis during outages.
• Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures and configuration management practices.
• Coordinate ground software release regression, operational testing, and monthly IT security patches.
• Provide 24/7 on-call contingency support to real-time operations.
• Support spacecraft integration, testing, and the development of command procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related field with 2-4 years of experience.
• A Master's degree in a relevant discipline (equivalent to 2 years of experience).
• Proven troubleshooting and real-time analysis skills for technical anomalies.
• Strong writing and presentation skills for a diverse audience of stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Linux operating systems to support satellite ground systems and real-time operations.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Unix Shells, PERL, or Java.
• Experience with the integration of AI/ML, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure into mission-ready tools.
• Experience with configuration management and document management supporting flight operations.
