About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and audit plant sanitation programs to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Write, review, and validate Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and manage the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
- Lead sanitation efforts in alignment with FDA, USDA, OSHA, GMP, and HACCP requirements.
- Supervise, coach, and train a team of 25-35 sanitation associates, managing scheduling and performance.
- Partner with Quality and Food Safety teams to support environmental monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee chemical safety programs, including proper storage, labeling, and SDS compliance.
- Lead internal and external audit readiness for SQF, regulatory, and customer audits.
- Monitor sanitation KPIs to improve labor efficiency, chemical usage, and cleaning effectiveness.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing or regulated environments, with direct experience in sanitation or food safety.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Ability to work 3rd shift (Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM) in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a union manufacturing environment.
- Certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, or Certified Sanitarian.
- Experience with SQF, BRC, or other GFSI-benchmarked food safety standards.
- Knowledge of cleaning validation methods (ATP, allergen validation, etc.).
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with SAP or Power BI.
