About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day specimen processing operations including accessioning, processing, and sample racking
- Utilize laboratory automation and maintain equipment through regular cleaning and maintenance
- Comply with Quality Management System policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate documentation following Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
- Handle and dispose of specimens following standard precautions and safety protocols
- Support operational initiatives such as quality improvements and department audits
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Proficiency with computers, including Internet navigation, email, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds for approximately 25% of a typical working day
- Ability to work a 2nd shift schedule (Tuesday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
- Ability to tolerate handling of bodily fluids and solids (e.g., blood, urine, and feces)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, or a related field
- Previous experience in a laboratory environment involving sample integrity and handling
- Knowledge of CAP, GLP, GDP, CLIA, or HIPAA regulations
- Experience troubleshooting automation and performing instrument maintenance
- Experience with Lean methodologies (Kaizen, Kanban, etc.)
