Sample Preparation Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare mineral samples for analysis in a laboratory setting
• Coordinate samples between different preparation sections
• Perform equipment adjustments and basic mechanical maintenance
• Assist in training and developing preparation technicians on standard procedures and quality control
• Help with electronic sample entry and inventory management
• Identify and resolve internal and external issues as they arise
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial mineral laboratory or mineral sample preparation
• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and MS Office
• Intermediate French communication skills (written and oral)
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform repetitive manual tasks
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in mineralogy, geology, or chemistry
• Experience in personnel management and training
• Forklift certification or experience operating a forklift
